Together for Healthy Schools: Decision-Makers and Teachers from Suceava Evaluated the Impact of the HEPA Olympics Project
On May 8, 2026, the Association Sport for All Suceava (AJSPT Suceava) organized the National Stakeholders Meeting within the European HEPA Olympics (HEPA-O) project, an event dedicated to fostering dialogue and collaboration between the education, health, and public administration sectors in promoting active lifestyles in schools.
The meeting brought together 80 participants, representing the 12 partner educational institutions from Suceava County, alongside representatives of local authorities and institutions playing key roles in the development of educational and health policies.
Among the distinguished guests were the General School Inspector of the Suceava County School Inspectorate, the School Inspector for Physical Education and Sport, two Primary Education Inspectors, the Director of the Suceava County Center for Resources and Educational Assistance (CJRAE), school principals, representatives of the Suceava County Council, and professionals from school health services.
The main objective of the event was to evaluate the impact of the HEPA Olympics project and identify sustainable solutions for integrating physical activity and health education into the daily life of schools.
HEPA Olympics – A European Model for Active Schools
During the meeting, participants were presented with the project objectives, the activities implemented throughout the project period, and the results achieved so far. Discussions focused on project indicators, participant satisfaction levels, and the impact of interventions on both teachers and students.
The findings highlighted that the HEPA Olympics project has contributed to the development of healthier behaviours, increased levels of physical activity, and strengthened the role of teachers as active role models for their students.
Experts also shared scientifically validated information regarding the importance of regular physical activity, health education, and the prevention of sedentary behaviour among children and young people.
Dialogue and Collaboration for the Future
A key component of the meeting was the interactive exchange of ideas and good practices among teachers, school leaders, inspectors, and representatives of partner institutions.
Participants identified both existing challenges and concrete opportunities for promoting healthy lifestyles in schools and developing sustainable educational programmes in the long term. Recommendations were also formulated regarding the integration of HEPA principles into curricular and extracurricular activities, as well as into school development strategies.
The meeting once again demonstrated that promoting health in educational settings requires an integrated approach in which schools, local authorities, health professionals, and the wider community work together for the benefit of students.
Results that Build the Future
Among the most important outcomes of the event were:
- increased awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyles in schools;
- strengthened collaboration between educational institutions and local authorities;
- the exchange of good practices and the development of new HEPA initiatives;
- enhanced institutional support for activities promoting health and physical activity;
- the maintenance of an active network of teachers and HEPA Ambassadors.
The impact of the project will continue beyond the Erasmus+ funding period through the integration of HEPA methods and resources into everyday school practices.
Through this project, AJSPT Suceava demonstrates that investing in health and education is a direct investment in the future of the community. Teachers become agents of change, while schools gradually transform into environments that support movement, wellbeing, and the harmonious development of children and young people.
